Emigrant Wilderness Retreat Update

Hello everyone,

I hope that you all are doing well these days. I’ve just returned from the Sierra, scouting the route for our wilderness retreat, and wanted to post a few updates about the course.

* First of all, the location is quite beautiful and I’m certainly looking forward to being out on this land together with you all. For a sneak peak, you can check out a few photos posted here.

* As of last week, the trip is filled to capacity (10 participants) with a couple of additional people on a waiting list. With the folks on the wait-list in mind, please let us know right away if for any reason you will not be able to attend the retreat. (For those who might be interested, I’m now in the planning stages for a December wilderness retreat in Southern California – details will be posted here on the website as they become available).

Nature and Dharma Daylong Meditation Retreat

To celebrate the coming of Spring and the launching of the Wilderness Dharma Center, Matt McNeil will be offering a Nature and Dharma daylong retreat on Saturday April 16th. The day will be held entirely outside on a gorgeous part of Mt. Tamalpais in Marin County.

The Buddha’s meditation instructions begin with the advice to “go to the forest or to the foot of a tree.” Come join us as we follow this counsel and spend a day of retreat on the land. Through silent meditations and experiential activities, we will discover how careful attention to the natural world can refine our awareness and remind us of an innate sense of wonder and peace. Examining Nature as teacher, refuge, and expression of “the truth of how things are,” we will explore the ways a deep connection with Nature can inform and enrich our everyday lives. Suitable for beginning and experienced meditators of all traditions.
